Brass Band Bozen Überetsch defends title at EBBC 2025 in Stavanger
1st Place Challenge Section, Best Instrumentalist
Great success for Brass Band Bozen Überetsch: At the 2025 European Brass Band Championships (EBBC) in Stavanger (Norway), the ensemble successfully defended its title in the Challenge Section. The 46th edition of the renowned championships took place from 3 to 11 May at the Stavanger Konserthus, bringing together around 28 brass bands from across Europe. In the Challenge Section, the second-highest contesting tier, the South Tyrolean band clearly outperformed the competition, securing an outstanding 96 points. They were followed by Downshire Brass from Northern Ireland (93 points) and Gjesdal Brass Band from Norway (90 points).
With an impressive interpretation of the specially composed test piece, "Embracing Duality" by Ingebjørg Vilhelmsen, Brass Band Bozen Überetsch completely won over the adjudicators. Following their European Championship title in 2023, this marks their second triumph in this section—a strong testament to the band's continuous musical development.
Another highlight was provided by trombonist Julius Michael Waldner, who was awarded "Best Instrumentalist" of the Challenge Section, impressively demonstrating his outstanding musicianship.
Following this successful title defence, Brass Band Bozen Überetsch will compete in the premier tier (Championship Section) at the next edition.
