Alps Brass Festival 2026 - Opening Edition
The Alps Brass Festival in Bolzano marks the launch of a new musical project with international ambitions. The goal is to establish South Tyrol as a central hub for the Alpine brass band scene and to bring world-class brass music to the region.
The journey begins in 2026 with the Opening Edition—a special concert weekend featuring the Brass Band Bozen Überetsch alongside the internationally acclaimed Cory Band from Wales, one of the most successful brass bands of recent years.
What starts this year as a collaboration between two ensembles is set to evolve into an international brass festival in the coming years, featuring multiple bands and a dedicated competition.
A special concert project
For Brass Band Bozen Überetsch, this project represents a significant musical milestone. The collaboration with the Cory Band brings two distinct brass band traditions together on one stage: one of the world's leading ensembles and a dedicated band from South Tyrol. Audiences can look forward to a diverse programme showcasing the full tonal range of a brass band—from powerful concert works to lyrical and atmospheric moments.
Brass Music at the Highest Level
By inviting the Cory Band from Wales, the Alps Brass Festival is bringing one of the most successful names on the international scene to South Tyrol. For many years, the band has remained at the very pinnacle of the brass world, having secured numerous international titles and contest wins. This offers the audience a rare opportunity to experience world-class brass music performed live at the highest level.
International success
In recent years, Brass Band Bozen Überetsch has also enjoyed significant international success. At the European Brass Band Championships (EBBC), the band won the second-highest competition category, thereby qualifying for the premier tier of the European brass band scene.
At the upcoming European Brass Band Championships in Linz in April 2026, Brass Band Bozen Überetsch will make its debut in the Championship Section, competing against elite bands including the Cory Band from Wales.
The concert at the Alps Brass Festival thus provides a unique opportunity to experience two ensembles live that will face each other in the European Championships shortly thereafter.
The 2026 Programme
Saturday, 23 May 2026 – Gala Concert
On Saturday evening, both the Cory Band and Brass Band Bozen Überetsch will present their own concert programmes. The highlight of the evening will be the grand musical finale, where both ensembles will perform together on stage.
Sunday, 24 May 2026 – Matinee Concert
A further concert featuring both brass bands will take place on Sunday morning, providing another opportunity to experience these two world-class ensembles live.
